BFPT-2603 – Allergic Asthma
BFPT-2603 is a proprietary biologic in pre-clinical development for the treatment of persistent moderate to severe allergy-related asthma inadequately controlled with inhaled steroid treatments. Allergic Asthma results from the immune system’s over-reaction to inhaled allergens such as dust mites or animal dander. The body forms IgE antibodies in response to the allergen prompting inflammation causing airway narrowing. BaroFold's goal is to block this immune response with a product that has improved tolerability and efficacy consistent with PreEMTTM biologics along with dramatically improved safety relative to current second line therapies.
BFPT-6864 – Rheumatoid Arthritis
BFPT-6864 is a proprietary biologic in pre-clinical development for the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Disease Modifying Antirheumatic Drugs (DMARDs), particularly methotrexate, have been the standard for aggressively treating Rheumatoid Arthritis. Recently, studies have shown that the most aggressive treatment for controlling Rheumatoid Arthritis may be the combination of methotrexate and another drug, particularly biologic response modifiers, such as TNF Inhibitors. Unfortunately, a large number of patients on TNF Inhibitors quit therapy due to either toxicity or lack of efficacy. BFPT-6864 is designed for patients who fail TNF Inhibitor therapy. BaroFold believes that it may provide another option for these patients with a drug that is more efficacious and easier to administer than the current treatment options available.
